5 Reasons Why Sara Should Visit Iligan City

Sara is someone I know who lives in Iowa, United States of America. She is my friend's foster mom. I have known her for an about a year which is why I know she's an amazing lady. Let me tell you that Sara loves adventure and traveling. I can tell because she had been to many of the states of US. Too bad though that I didn't get the chance to travel with her during my one-year stay in Iowa. Now, last week she commented on my Iligan blog "I want to visit!". According to what she loves, here are 5 reasons I know why Sara should visit me and Iligan city.

1. First of all, I failed to mention that Sara is one big fan of God. She is a very devoted Christian. In fact, she writes blogs about devotion to God. So that being said, I assure that she would love to lay eyes on the immaculate churches of Iligan City. There are a number of incredible churches here (Iligan) where she can visit. Apparently, she would enjoy exchanging testimonies about God's miracle. Sara could even enjoy the unique and jolly way of praising the Filipinos. That would be super cool for her!

2. Second, Sara loves food. Like me, her mind is just open for new foods. She is also a good cook. I remember that one time when I made the famous Filipino-craved dessert. Yep, I made mango float and she fell in love with it. She even asked me to send her the recipe. I can't help thinking what would she be like if she tries the various mouth-watering dishes of Iligan. Tapioca, binignit, bibingka, pater, Macki's famous fried chicken, Chedding's peanuts, different types of pastries and other tastebud-tingling foods I have tried here, would surely give her a mouth flood of palatable taste. Anyways, I have to be ready if she'll ask for the recipe of every single one of these enticing plates.

3. Truth is, Sara seems to be fond of exciting adventures. Now, Iligan City would gladly be a host for that. This place is full of jaw-dropping adventures. Just a single trip to Maria Christina Falls alone would be enough. What if I'll add Timoga Spring Resorts, Tinago Falls, and Maze Park? She could even give the zip line ride a shot. Whoa! Go easy here. Because that would be interestingly tiring! But one way or another, she'll seriously have the adventure of her life.

4. How about going to the city proper? Sara would want that. At least, she would get to know the city. She could stroll in the Gaisano mall and get some stuff for souvenirs. Or if she likes, she could try going to small shopping centers and boutiques for the low-priced but still elegant dress. Or maybe, she could be a "digger". You know, ukay-ukay style of hunting pretty nice clothes and shoes but in a super duper cheap price. If she'll decide to just tour around the city and feel the real essence of the place and people, she could ride a multi-colored jeepney and see for herself the lively busy street of Iligan City. Dang! Wouldn't that be awesome?

5. Lastly, Sara would be stunned if she spots the delightful and eye-catching festivals celebrated here. That just reminds me of this month's festival, the Diyandi Festival. There are tons of things to do. She could watch the Ms. Iligan Pageant, street dancing contest, dance contest, cultural shows and many more. The Diyandi dance should not be missed. And there are other fiestas to watch for here. Everyone should just go see for themselves this blithe celebration. Overwhelmingly fun, sure thing that Sara would think about Iligan City. Furthermore, everyone is welcome here!

  7. Hi Sara,

As one American to another, you can take my word for it that a visit to Iligan City is seriously worth considering, especially if you have never been to this part of the world before. No special visa required for American Citizens to visit for up to 21 days. All you need is your air tickets and passport.

As a 5 time visitor to Iligan City, I can verify that what you read in many of these blogs and favorable articles on the internet are true. Just think, you already have a friend in Iligan to welcome you so you can take advantage of the " Bring Home A Friend " program from the Iligan Dept. of Tourism !

In addition to many of the well published and written about tourist attractions, you may discover many other things of interest as I have found. If you find something that is of particular interest to you that may not generally be open to the public, it is quite possible that special arrangements can be made for you to visit and tour these things. A multitude of educational facilities of all kinds, Civic events, social events and much more that may never appear in tourist brochures and websites are some of the things you could very well develop a liking for. Have you ever looked at pictures of things happening in a far away place and wish you could be " In The Picture " ? Yes, it can become a reality for you in Iligan City, just as it has for me.

A typical example of this is when I heard a song about Iligan known as " Iligan March ". After a considerable amount of research I found out what it is all about.

A couple of years later, I woke up one morning and moments later I was " In The Picture " of something I had only imagined two years earlier !

You can read about just a few of the places I have visited and things I have enjoyed in Iligan City here,

A visit to Iligan is something well worth considering.
